So I finally got the school pickup thing down. No more scrambling, late arrivals, or forgetting snacks. I got a little system going, snacks packed the night before, car keys in the same spot, route optimized. Its like military precision over here. Wife asked what I did differently and I honestly cou...

I started getting into BBQ about 6 months ago and I cannot stop. I've done like 15 briskets now and my neighbors probably hate me but they keep eating so whatever. Got a new offset smoker last month and spent 3 grand on it but honestly it's the best money I've spent on a hobby. The smoke ring on thi...

Literally just witnessed my 3 month old girl laugh for the first time like 10 minutes ago and I've been sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I was making stupid faces at her during a diaper change and just this genuine little laugh came out. My wife wasn't even here to see it and now I wi...

Got Monday off and I'm torn between actually relaxing or doing something productive. Part of me wants to sit on the couch and watch sports all day, other part knows my wife will kill me if I don't at least tackle some of the honey do list. Probably going to compromise and do yard work in the morning...

Planning to take my 4 and 6 year old camping for the first time ever in a few weeks. Renting a cabin near this state park instead of tent camping because I'm not trying to deal with that nightmare yet lol. Any advice on keeping them entertained without screens? I'm thinking hiking, fishing, maybe a ...

My 10yo is obsessed with fortnite. He wants to play constantly and I'm trying to set boundaries but it feels like every kid his age is playing it so he feels left out when he can't. We do an hour on weekends and he does chores/homework first. Is that reasonable or am I being too strict? Other parent...

So my son has been begging for a treehouse for like 2 years and I finally committed to it last weekend. Got some 2x8s from home depot, watched way too many youtube videos, and honestly thought my wife was going to kill me when she saw me up there with a cordless drill at 7am. But we got it done in o...

I said 8 because I'm not hungry enough to eat 12. My kids stared at me like I just invented stupidity. Apparently that's not how it works anymore.

My 7 year old watched the whole thing and didn't say anything. When I finally found it in my back pocket he just shook his head and walked away. I think he's starting to understand what he's dealing with.

Burnt toast, undercooked eggs, orange juice that was mostly pulp, but it was the best breakfast I've ever had. He spent like an hour making it with his mom's help and the look on his face when he brought it in was everything. Told him it was incredible which wasn't even a lie. 4yo life right there.

Married my high school sweetheart, had kids right away, got the house, the minivan, the whole thing by 28. Completely different life than my buddies who traveled and slept till noon on weekends. Now I'm 40 and mostly I'm grateful. But I'd be lying if I said I don't miss spontaneity sometimes. Miss g...

Spent like 8 weekends building this thing with my oldest. Started with just some 2x4s and a vague idea, looked up a bunch of YouTube videos. It's not fancy but it's solid and 12 feet up. Kids immediately claimed it as their fort and have been out there constantly. Even my wife who was skeptical is i...

My 13 year old has his face in his phone 24/7. I took it away for a week and it was like living with an angry alien. He just sat in his room sulking. I gave it back because the peace was worth it. Anyone figured out how to actually enforce phone limits without going nuclear?

My office went casual a few years back but I still wear a proper shirt and slacks most days. You'd be surprised how much respect you get just from looking like you care about your appearance. Sets the tone for how people interact with you. My old man always said your clothes are the first thing you ...

I got three kids, I'm married, but I feel this weird loneliness sometimes. Like nobody really gets what's going on in my head. My wife is dealing with her own stuff, the guys at work are just work friends, and I can't really be real with my parents about my struggles. It's a weird kind of isolation....
