Grilled steaks last night and nailed it
Perfect medium rare on all 4 steaks. Got the grill temp just right, didn't flip too much, let them rest. Even my picky 7 year old ate his without complaining. Small wins guys.

Got angry at a driver in traffic and said something I wasn't proud of. My 9yo called me out immediately, reminded me that I'm always telling him to be patient and kind. Didn't feel good being corrected by my own kid but it was the wake up call I needed. Apologized to him and we talked about how hard...
My oldest just turned 8 and asked if we could go fishing. I haven't done it since college and realized I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. Need to figure out where to go locally and what gear I actually need. Don't want to spend a ton of money if we might not stick with it but I want to do this r...
After 2 years of back and forth with lawyers, we finally agreed on terms last week. 50/50 custody, he got the house, I'm getting the garage turned apartment situation squared away this month. I'm relieved but also terrified about doing this solo half the time. Any dads here been through the first fe...
Our son is 2 days old and we have no idea what we're doing. He cries, we panic. He sleeps, we check if he's breathing every 5 minutes. My wife is exhausted from labor and barely sleeping. I'm running on coffee and pure adrenaline. Is this normal? How long until we feel like we actually know what's h...
I'm 38 and feel like I have no real friends left. Most of my buddies moved away over the years and I didn't make the effort to stay close because of my depression. Now I'm isolated and it's making everything worse. When I do try to go out or join something, the anxiety is unbearable. Feels like ever...
My dad always said you can tell everything about a man from his handshake. Still believe that. Been teaching my boys this. A solid grip, eye contact, confidence. We live in a texting world now but when you meet someone face to face it still matters. Am I old fashioned here or is anyone else keeping ...
My old man taught me that being a real man means opening doors, listening more than you talk, and treating every woman like she deserves your best manners. Now I'm raising my own son and I want that same code. Started having him open doors, stand when ladies enter the room, and we talk about what re...
Spent 15 years climbing the ladder. Made good money, hated my life. Missed soccer games, forgot my kids names at dinner because I was thinking about work. Had a breakdown at 42 and just quit. My wife and I talked and she had savings. We downsized, simplified everything. Now I work part time doing so...
Taking the family out this Saturday and my wife wants fish tacos. We've tried a couple places but nothing has really knocked my socks off yet. Anyone know a good spot that's not too expensive? Looking for something casual where the kids won't be miserable if they have to wait a bit.
Been working on this for like 8 months with my oldest son helping on weekends. Took longer than expected because of course it did but man it feels good to look at it now. Got some new shelving, organized all the tools, added some lighting. My kid actually learned a lot about how to use power tools s...
I just binged The Bear on Hulu and it was insane. Stressful as hell but so good. My wife thinks I'm crazy for watching a show about a kitchen that just makes me anxious but I can't stop. Anyone else watching anything good? I need a new recommendation for this weekend.
I said of course honey I'm a very good doctor. She said you're not even wearing a white coat. I said that's because I left it at my practice. She goes then why are you wearing a stained polo shirt? Fair point kid. Fair point.
Decided to build a shelf in the garage yesterday. Simple right? Wrong. Studs weren't where they were supposed to be, drill bit snapped, and now there's a hole in the drywall I have to explain to my wife. It's still just leaning against the wall. At least the wood looks nice. Anyone else have project...
She's been "forgetting" to have them ready on my pickup days and when I text about it she says I never confirmed the time. I have screenshots of every single agreement but this is getting exhausting. Our divorce was finalized 8 months ago and I thought this would get easier. Do I need a lawyer again...
