Finally got some peace and quiet Sunday night after the kids went down and binged like 4 episodes. Forgot what it was like to watch something where I'm not worried about explaining why the man is yelling lol. Is the whole season worth it or does it fall off?
We're driving to visit family in Texas (12 hours) next month with my 7yo and we're dreading the backseat complaints. Looking for podcast recommendations, audiobooks, or even just a killer playlist that keeps kids entertained. We've done Bluey and PJ Masks to death. Open to anything really—music, sto...
Had my 7yo and 9yo for Thanksgiving for the first time since the split. Was honestly nervous about it - didn't want them sad, didn't want to feel like a failure, the whole thing. But we cooked together, made a mess, laughed a lot, and they actually said it was "really fun." Their mom had them the f...
If you've been putting off watching with your kids thinking it's just a kids show, nah. The "Sleepover" episode will wreck you emotionally. "Dinner Time" is uncomfortable in the best way possible. And don't even get me started on the deeper messages about parenting. My 3yo gets entertained, I get ac...
Every. Single. Night. Bedtime is 10pm, and at 9:57 one of my boys (6 or 8, they rotate) suddenly needs water so badly that their throat is apparently closing up. If I say no he acts betrayed. If I say yes we're back in the cycle for another 10 minutes. This is my life now.
First kid on the way. My company offers 6 weeks paid paternity leave. I'm thinking about stretching it to 8 weeks unpaid (so 2 extra weeks I'd have to figure out). Is that crazy? Is 6 weeks enough? My wife is taking 12 weeks and we're wondering if it makes sense for me to be more present those fir...
Looking for something doable with my 4yo and 5yo - ideally under 3 miles, decent views, not too rocky. We've done Liwanu Trail and Wahkeena Falls. Want something new for next month. What are you guys doing with the younger crew in the area?
Downloaded Headspace because I was desperate and broke the "install an app" stigma. Did the 10-minute dad meditation series (lol the one literally called "dad mode"). Felt silly the first time ngl. But something about someone saying "your anxiety doesn't define you" in a British accent while I'm hid...
**S-Tier:** OurFamilyWizard (has everything, ex uses it, I pay $200/yr and it's worth it) **A-Tier:** Talking Parents (loved this but ex won't use it), Custody X Change (great for scheduling) **B-Tier:** Google Shared Calendar (free, she won't update it) **D-Tier:** Just texting (do not recommend...
Like, I love my kids but some days I genuinely don't understand how people do this and seem happy. The constant noise, the cleaning, the responsibility, the decision fatigue. Everyone's Instagram looks so zen and I'm over here thinking about screaming into a pillow. Is there something wrong with me ...
I'm actually furious. Found him scrolling through TikTok under his blanket at like 2 in the morning. We have a rule - phones stay downstairs after 9pm. Obviously that's not working. Confiscated the phone for a week. Now he's mad at me and my wife thinks a week is too harsh. I don't care if he's mad....
Work's been insane, kids are in sports 4 nights a week, haven't had sex with my wife in like 3 months, can't remember the last time I did something just for me. Yesterday I realized I've been having a tension headache for 2 weeks straight. This isn't sustainable but I don't know how to slow down wit...
We spent like 6 weeks figuring out what works for our 3-month-old's naps - wake windows, contact nap vs crib, all of it. Finally getting predictable 1.5-2 hour chunks twice a day and it's been LIFE CHANGING. My MIL arrives tomorrow and I love her but she's a chaos agent. She'll want to hold the baby...
Picked up some untreated cedar from Lowes, cut it into pieces (I did the cuts, kids did assembly), painted them with outdoor paint. Total project maybe 90 minutes with my 6 and 9 year olds. Cost like $25 for materials to make 3 birdhouses. Now we're checking them daily with binoculars. So much easie...
We were doing the classic baking soda volcano thing with my 9yo. She got REALLY into it, kept adding more baking soda each time. Then she straight up poured the entire bottle of vinegar in at once. Erupted all over the kitchen table, dripped down into drawers, got in the grout. She was laughing so h...
