Apparently this is a thing where kids watch streamers say bad words and do inappropriate stuff and it's hilarious to them?? I don't even understand the content. He's been sneaking his iPad to watch it. Freaked out, deleted YouTube from his tablet, now he's acting like I destroyed his life. This is s...
Took inspiration from a post I saw here last month. Got pre-made dough from Whole Foods (not gonna lie, made it from scratch once - never again), set up a station in the kitchen. Kids got to stretch their own dough, add sauce, pick toppings. My 6yo made a "dessert pizza" with Nutella and strawberri...
Found one on Facebook Marketplace for half off, guy had barely used it. Spent like $300 fixing some minor stuff. Since then I've cooked brisket, salmon, ribs... everything comes out stupid good. My family actually comes outside to hang now instead of me being the solo cook guy. 10/10 would buy used...
Not sponsored or anything, but been using Togetherly with my wife to just... coordinate everything. Dinners, pickups, doctor appointments, work deadlines, who's cooking, who has bandwidth for bedtime. Sounds stupid but having ONE place where we're not constantly asking "wait, who's getting Sofia on ...
So my company finally approved my request to WFH 3 days a week. Thought it'd be amazing - no commute, more time with the kids. Reality check: my 4yo keeps interrupting Zoom calls asking for snacks, the 7yo's school thinks I'm available to volunteer constantly now, and I'm somehow working MORE hours ...
So last weekend I decided to finally do something with that corner of the backyard that's just been dead grass. Grabbed my 6-year-old, some 2x8 boards, and we dug a bed together. Kid was OBSESSED with the digging part—got dirt everywhere, in her hair, under her nails, didn't care. Fast forward 2 we...
I've got Apple's family sharing set up with screen time limits, app restrictions, all that stuff. It works okay but my 11yo is constantly asking for exceptions ("but all my friends have this app"). Feel like I'm managing permissions instead of actually parenting sometimes. Is this normal?
Been working on restoring a 1995 GMC Sierra in my garage for the past year and a half. Just got the engine running again yesterday after a complete rebuild. She fired right up and the sound was incredible. My oldest came out and actually seemed impressed for once. Still got a ton of work on the inte...
Spent like $150 and a Saturday building a 4ft quarter pipe with my 11yo. Used PVC and plywood mostly because I wanted it cheap and moveable. He's been obsessed with skating and wanted a ramp. It's not perfect but it's solid and he can actually land tricks on it now. Took some YouTube tutorials and h...
Found a half-eaten PB&J sandwich and a banana peel that had been sitting in my 6yo's backpack for THREE DAYS. The smell was something else. Also found a note from his teacher saying he's been forgetting his lunch box at school like he's running some kind of operation. Anyway, I'm apparently not as o...
Just wanted to share a win. My old man gave me his entire collection of Spider-Man comics from the 70s and 80s. Been organizing them in a climate controlled closet and man, some of these are in really good condition. Already looked up some values and I'm shocked. Not trying to sell them but it's coo...
My 7yo wants to catch every single bug he sees and I get it, he's curious, but we're doing this like 10 times a day and I'm tired. We got him a butterfly net and specimen containers which helped a bit but now he wants to 'study' them which means keeping them in jars. I'm not trying to be mean but I ...
My son keeps asking to play soccer (probably because all his friends do lol). He's never done organized sports before. Looking at summer camps but there are SO MANY options and price varies wildly. Do you get what you pay for or is $150 basically the same as $400? Should I just start with a cheap ca...
Work is mediocre, my marriage feels like we're just coexisting, I'm not the dad I want to be, I haven't called my parents in weeks. Everything just feels... thin? Like I'm spreading myself so thin that I'm failing at all of it instead of being decent at any of it. My therapist says this is a thinkin...
We're on waitlists at 6 daycares in the Seattle area. My wife's maternity leave ends in January and we have NOTHING locked in. The good places have waiting lists that are 18+ months long. How are people actually managing this? Are we supposed to plan years in advance? This feels broken.
