Took me two years but I've got my garage looking pretty solid now. New workbench, proper lighting, tool wall organized. Even set up a little seating area where I can grab a beer after the kids go to bed. Next project is building a cornhole set. Feels good to have a space that's actually mine where I...
Made the jump last year. Wife's job pays better and I was burning out in corporate anyway. Biggest transition has been letting go of my identity being tied to my job title. First few months were weird but now I'm organizing our home, meal planning, actually picking the kids up from school, coaching ...
I told him it's a genetic thing. He's not laughing yet but give it 10 years and he'll understand the pain he's about to inflict on his own kids. It's the circle of dad.
After about 6 months of collecting materials and watching YouTube videos, I finally got the workbench done in the garage. Got it all set up with storage underneath and a pegboard wall. My oldest actually helped me install the mounting brackets which was pretty cool. Now I've got a proper setup to fi...
Been golfing casually for a while but joined an actual league at the club. First game is Tuesday evening. Been hitting the range almost every other day to get ready. Wife thinks I'm crazy but this is my thing you know? Just need to not embarrass myself on the first hole.
Everyone's got different opinions on this. Some guys say reverse sear, some swear by just getting a hot cast iron skillet and going for it. I'm team cast iron with butter and garlic. What do you guys prefer? Looking to impress with a nice dinner this Saturday.
She tells my 8 year old to tell me about schedule changes or money stuff instead of just texting me. My kid comes home stressed out like he's responsible for communicating between us. I've tried to handle it gracefully and just ask her to text me directly but she acts like I'm being unreasonable. I ...
Just got laid off and I'm trying to find new work but the court ordered amount is based on my old salary. I've been paying it but I'm barely scraping by. I know I need to go back to court to modify it but I'm nervous that if I bring it up she'll try to take more custody from me. We don't have a grea...
He's 13 and says he'd rather stay at moms place. Says it's because his friends are closer to her house and he doesn't want to switch schools for part of the week. I feel like I'm losing him. He used to be excited about his days with me. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? How do I fix this...
All I did was let him pick what we had for lunch and helped him build a fort in the living room. He came up and hugged me and said it unprompted. Going to remember this forever. These moments go by so fast.
Nothing fancy, just store bought dough and basic toppings but the kids think they're on a cooking show. Youngest is doing cheese, middle one is arranging pepperonis in some weird pattern, oldest one wanted to try making the sauce from scratch. Kitchen is a disaster but honestly this beats screens an...
That's it that's the post. She actually said my pancakes are better than mommy's. I'm never gonna recover from this high.
Yup. Drove an hour to the campsite realized we didn't have the poles. Ended up hanging a tarp between two trees and making a lean to shelter. Actually worked great and the kids thought it was way cooler than a regular tent. They're still talking about our "survival adventure". Sometimes screwing up ...
We've been divorced for 3 years now and co parent pretty well. Today my daughter randomly asked if I was gonna marry mommy again and I said no but that we'll always be a family. She seemed cool with that answer and then asked if she could have a snack. My ex texted me later that she brought it up at...
Got the promotion I've been working toward for 3 years. More money, better title, but they want me on calls at 7am and the job isn't really flexible on the evenings anymore. I've got a 4yo and an 8yo who actually know who I am right now because I've been more present. I'm terrified this job is going...
