**Looking for:** - Math practice (not Khan Academy, my 8yo hates it) - Reading/vocabulary building - Maybe something with a little fun factor so he'll actually use it - Prefer no ads or at least minimal Willing to pay. We've tried like 8 different apps and they're all either too babyish or boring. ...

Currently working 8:30-5:30, want to propose 7am-4pm so I can pick up my kindergartner at 4:15. Earlier start sucks but the pickup would change everything for my family. My manager is pretty chill but I don't want to seem unreasonable. We're not a super flexible company culture but we're not corpora...

She literally tried to do a dance from TikTok during her soccer game last weekend. Not exaggerating. The coach looked confused. We've got her down to 30 mins on weekends but she's obsessed with copying trends. Anyone else dealing with this? Her friends all have TikTok accounts even though they're no...

This is gonna sound dumb but I genuinely struggle with this. I finish work at 5pm, sometimes earlier on flex days. But my brain is still AT work, running through problems or stressing about meetings. So when I'm sitting with my kids doing bedtime or whatever, I'm only like 60% there mentally. My wif...

Not like he actually thinks he IS a dog but he wants to crawl around on all fours, bark at people, eat his food from a bowl on the floor sometimes. His mom doesn't get why it bothers me but something about it just feels weird? I let him be a kid and weird but this seems... extra? Is this normal or s...

My oldest is 16 now and he's basically choosing when to come to my place vs staying with his mom. On paper our schedule is 50/50 but really it's more like 40/60 me now. He's got his life, friends, school stuff. Should I be upset about this or is this just... normal? Feel like I should fight for more...

We got 8 inches last night and I woke up like a kid on Christmas. Started planning sledding, hot chocolate, the whole thing. Meanwhile my 11yo is like "can I just stay inside and play Minecraft?" and my 9yo is mad because it means her soccer practice got cancelled. I'm the only one hyped. This is no...

Last spring we did this on a whim. Filled a 4x8 bed with soil, let him pick vegetables. He chose tomatoes, lettuce, and carrots bc they're apparently the only foods he'll eat 🙄 Fast forward to June - we actually got a harvest. He ate a tomato he grew. HIMSELF. That's a win in my book. Doing it ag...

My 13yo wants to use Discord for gaming. I don't really understand it beyond "it's like Skype but for gamers." Is it actually risky or am I being paranoid? He's pretty sensible about online stuff but I also know that age group can make dumb decisions. What should I actually know about Discord as a p...

We just moved here and I'm looking for stuff to do with the kids (7 and 10) on weekends that won't completely drain the bank. We've hit the zoo a few times already. Looking for DIY stuff, outdoor stuff, anything really. What are your go-tos? Are there good parks or trails nearby that aren't super cr...

Got a call from daycare at 3pm that my 3yo fell and bumped his head. He was fine, no concussion risk, but I didn't even get to see him till 5 hours later when pickup. Wife was in back-to-back meetings and couldn't get away either. I know this is not the end of the world and he's okay, but I felt SO ...

For anyone doing the commute-to-daycare-to-office thing with two young kids: the Graco DuoGlider is legitimately game-changing. Can fit in most car trunks, handles both my 2yo and 4yo, and it's not as heavy as other side-by-side options. Was hesitant because it's $250 but honestly saves me 10 minut...

I'm equal parts impressed and terrified. He's been getting into my stash of goldfish crackers at 2am. Bought one of those child safety locks but honestly I'm waiting to see if he figures that out too. This kid's going to be an engineer or a criminal, no in-between. Anyone else have a tiny Houdini at...

So my 7yo watched maybe 30 mins of some guy playing Minecraft and now that's ALL he wants to do. He's asking me every five seconds if he can watch more videos. I set a timer for 1 hour on weekends but he's started sneaking into my office to use the tablet when I'm not looking. The worst part? Some ...

This scared the hell out of me. My son told me a grown man messaged him on Discord asking to play a game together and wanted to move to a private chat. I told him no and he blocked the person, but my heart is still racing. We talked about it that night but I don't want to overreact and make him secr...
